GLOBIS Europe Hosts Seminar on Japan’s Business Reinvention with Prof. Ulrike Schaede
On July 15, GLOBIS Europe welcomed Professor Ulrike Schaede of UC San Diego for an in-person seminar at the Clayton Hotel in Düsseldorf: The Business Reinvention of Japan: Lessons for Europe. Professor Schaede, a leading expert in Japanese corporate strategy, shared her insights with an audience of professionals and business leaders.
She highlighted how Japanese companies have shifted from mass manufacturing to becoming indispensable players in global supply chains, and explained how tactical approaches – illustrated by the sumo metaphor of “Mainoumi” – can help organizations thrive in competitive markets. Her presentation was followed by a dialogue with Toru Takahashi, Global Chief Strategy Officer at GLOBIS Europe, and a lively Q&A.
The evening concluded with a networking reception, where participants exchanged ideas on how Japan’s strategies can inform Europe’s own path forward. We were pleased to host this meaningful exchange in Düsseldorf, a city with strong ties to Japanese business, and look forward to continuing the conversation in future seminars.
