Yoshito Hori

Yoshito Hori is the founder and president of GLOBIS. After graduating from Harvard Business School and starting his career at Sumitomo Corporation, he established GLOBIS Management School in 1992. The school received formal recognition as a university by the Government of Japan in 2006 and now offers Full-time, Part-time, and Online MBA programs—making GLOBIS the No.1 business school in Japan by student intake.
Alongside his work in business education, Hori founded GLOBIS Capital Partners in 1996, one of Japan’s leading venture capital firms, now managing seven funds with over USD $2 billion.
He has been active in global and Japanese leadership communities, helping establish the Entrepreneurs’ Organization Japan Chapter and serving on boards and councils such as the World Economic Forum, Harvard Business School Alumni Board, the Wilson Center, and the Japan Association of Corporate Executives. He has appeared on the cover of Forbes Japan and Forbes Asia as one of Japan’s most successful entrepreneurs.
Hori founded the G1 Summit and leads the G1 Institute, a community and think tank dedicated to shaping a better Japan. After the 2011 Great Tohoku Earthquake, he launched Project KIBOW, which grew into the KIBOW Foundation and KIBOW Impact Investment.
He remains closely connected to his hometown of Mito in Ibaraki Prefecture as an ambassador. He also owns the Ibaraki Robots basketball team, Ibaraki Broadcasting System, and produces LuckyFes, an annual music festival.
Hori holds a BS in engineering from Kyoto University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has authored several books and enjoys swimming and spending time with his wife and five sons.
