What made you choose the GLOBIS MBA?
At the time, I was pursuing another MBA program and did not know GLOBIS existed. I came across a trial class in the city I was living in and decided to attend to better understand what an MBA class could be like. It was a GLOBIS trial class, and after the session, I realized that this MBA fit perfectly with the practical and networking aspects I was looking for.
What is your favorite memory from GLOBIS?
I joined the CIEBS program, where we had the opportunity to visit another country and experience another MBA program for a week. Some of our lecturers and classmates from the Full-time, Part-time, and Online classes attended. It was a wonderful experience where we learned about the business landscape in another country, applied our prior learning, and picked up new approaches to studying. Most importantly, it was a fantastic opportunity to connect with students we had previously only met online.
What did a typical week as an MBA student look like?
As a full-time student, I committed a year of my life to learning. Classes would typically start around 10 a.m. and run for three hours, with a break. I generally took two classes a day, with sessions ending around 5 p.m. Afterward, my classmates and I would meet for group study sessions to work on case studies together. Dinner was often shared with classmates, and sometimes lecturers would join us. The rest of the evening was spent preparing for the next day’s assignments and more case studies. Of course, we had days off too, which we typically used to explore Tokyo, try new experiences, and travel to different parts of Japan.
What advice would you give to someone considering the GLOBIS MBA?
Know your options, understand what you want from an MBA, and go into it with a willingness to learn. An MBA is simply a tool, and having one is not a guaranteed path to success. However, if you’re willing to invest time and effort into networking and focusing on the outcomes you want, it can help you achieve great things. GLOBIS is an excellent choice if you’re looking for interactive and practical classes rather than traditional lecture-style learning. It also offers a passionate and active network within and outside Japan.
